Hello all. This is my first time here. My grandfather recently passed away and I was left his accordion. I have never played before and have a few questions. First, It sounds like there are loose pieces inside of it, any thoughts on what this may be? Also I know nothing about the brand/model and cant find out if it is something a beginner should be playing. It has the following markings on it. Bianchi, G. Sperati & F., Castelfidardo. Does this mean anything to anyone? Thank you for your help.

If you are at all good with your hands and mechanically inclined the first step in this case is to pull the pins near the edges of the bellows nearest the keyboard side, usually 3 on the front and 3 on the back. Unless you have a pin puller to prevent damage to the accordion and or pins you can use a electricians dikes .(diagonal cutters)If a pair of plain old pliers is all you have you should be very careful to minimize any damage caused by the pliers.
Once the pins are pulled the treble section can be separated from the bellows by prying apart with you fingers.
This will allow you to look inside to check for a loose reed block or individual reeds that may have come loose from their waxed setting.

Better access to the bass side is possible by pulling those pins on that side near the bellows edge. If removing both sides from the bellows be sure to mark the original position of the bellows or you could end up with a bellows gasket leak or pin holes that do not line up correctly.
And always make note of which pin come out of it`s respective hole possible especially if you encounter different sized pins.

You could take a picture or two to show us the accordion itself AND whatever loose pieces or damage you find in side and we could go on from there.

geo's advice is sound- just have to add- don't do work on an accordion if you're pressed for time- take your time and make sure you pay attention to what goes where and the order in which you dismantle. the pins on some boxes are different lengthes, so pay attention. good luck, steve

Thank you for the the advice. I will attach a few pictures of the actual accordion to see if anyone can tell me anything about it. When I get brave enough to open it up I will put up some pictures of the parts that are rattling inside.

It`s definitely good enough for a beginer , especially if it plays.
However something being loose inside doesn`t sound too good.
Lets hope it`s something simple like a loose reed block
