Well, I'm committed to PA now! Just sold my english concertina today. In my perpetual quest for chromaticism and "the perfect box," I've persevered with EC for about four years, but couldn't come to grips with the alternating left-hand/right-hand scalar pattern layout. It's such a versatile and elegant instrument, but after playing instruments all of my life that ascend and descend in obvious fashion, the EC system isn't as intuitive for me and I hit too many wrong notes. I still play anglo concertina (and DBA), so I still get my 'tina and button fix.
I've had PAs laying around for years that I couldn't come to grips with either--I'm a string player and fumble with keys. So far, I'm not playing any oompah--I can do that with my DBAs-- and I'm finding that my 50s Hohner Arietta is a potent blues box.
Guess I finally have to come to grips with keys, "proper."

Aside from the fact that PAs weigh a ton, I'm pretty excited again. For an R&B instrument, PA is pretty cool and lowdown..
